Хабаровский Утёс (координаты: 48.472668, 135.049509) это настоящая “визитная карточка” моего родного города. Вид с набережной на Утес и Амур на фоне чистого неба, восхода или заката, в любой сезон года – обязательно есть в фотоархивах всех жителей и гостей города. Этот знаковый вид появляется на открытках, магнитах и прочих сувенирах и, конечно же, все видели его на 5000 рублевой купюре. Выбор именно этого здания для бумажной модели “про Хабаровск” был очевиден.

Идея сделать бумажную модель Хабаровского Утёса возникла у меня давным-давно, кажется, еще в 2020-2021 году, когда из-за ковида накрылась медным тазом моя поездка в родной город. Идея была записана в графу “Когда-нибудь” и наконец-то дождалась своего часа в ноябре 2024 года. 3D модель была сделана в Metasequoia 4, развернута в Pepakura Designer и раскрашена и доведена до ума в Photoshop. Здание мне “удалось” с первой попытки, а вот вариантов собственно утеса было сделано 4 или 5. Тестирование и оптимизация выкройки, создание “древесных насаждений” и инструкций к ним и послужили причиной задержки релиза на почти 5 месяцев.

Khabarovsk Cliff (coordinates: 48.472668, 135.049509) is a true “landmark” of my hometown. The view from the embankment of the Cliff and Amur river against clear blue sky, sunrise or sunset, during all seasons of the year is in the photo archives of all residents and guests of the city. This iconic view appears on postcards, magnets and other souvenirs and of course everyone can see it on the 5000 rouble banknote. The choice of this particular building for the paper model “about Khabarovsk” was a given and had no contest.

I got an idea to make a paper model of Khabarovsk Cliff a long time ago, somewhere back in 2020-2021, when planned trip to my hometown was scrapped because of the COVID. The idea was recorded in the “Someday” column of my planner and stayed there until November 2024, when I had time to tackle it. The 3D model was made in Metasequoia 4, unfolded in Pepakura Designer and coloured and finished off in Photoshop. I got the building right on the first try, but the cliff itself took 4 or 5 versions. Finalising the templates, ironing out issues, adding more “trees” and creating instructions for their placement caused the release to be delayed by almost 5 months.

Здание Утёса было построено в 1943 году на уступе Амурского утёса по проекту архитектора П. А. Старикова. Предназначалось для военного ведомства как здание спасательной станции для наблюдения за рекой. Несмотря на военное время было построено в стиле неоклассицизма, с явным расчетом на то, что постройка станет яркой достопримечательностью города, центром притяжения за счет центрального расположения в парке и того, как здание вписано в окружающий ландшафт.

В послевоенные годы, парк вокруг стал любимым местом прогулок хабаровчан и здание Утёса с его видовой площадкой отлично вписалось в новую мирную жизнь. C 1950-х годов в нем располагалось общество спасения на водах, затем морская школа ДОСААФ, где детей обучали моделированию, теории гребли и нахождению на воде. Впоследствии, школа переехала в другое помещение и Утёс использовался как парковое сооружение, это одна из лучших видовых площадок на Амур.
В 1957 году, к сорокалетию Октябрьской революции, на Утеса появилась мемориальная табличка, о том, что “На этом месте 5 сентября 1918 года белогвардейцами были зверски замучены 16 австро-венгерских музыкантов, сочувствовавших Советской Власти”. Это очень интересная история, окруженная множеством легенд. Существует несколько версий причин произошедшего, о чем, стоит пожалуй написать отдельно и более подробно – я постараюсь собрать воедино разрозненную информацию в ближайшем будущем.

В начале 60х началось строительство нынешней набережной Адмирала Невельского, протянувшейся вдоль Амура. Изгиб набережной у подножья Утёса построили уже в 1970х. Вероятно, тогда же были проведена перепланировка внутренних помещений и был достроен дополнительный объем для организации входа, а также сооружена лестница, ведущая на набережную. После этого, в 80х-90х здание Утёса использовалось как кафе. В XXI веке здание дважды реставрировалось, и после реставрации 2013 года было передано в ведение находящегося поблизости Краеведческого Музея им. Гродекова. Здание включено в перечень объектов культурного наследия регионального значения.

В качестве референсов были использованы многочисленные фотографии Утёса: старинные, современные и мои собственные фото, винтажные открытки, панорамы с карт Яндекса итд. Плитка, парапеты, ограда набережной и фонари – скопированы с фотографий и соответствуют реальности. Все было сделано “по большой любви”.

The Khabarovsk Cliff was built in 1943 on the ledge of the Amur Cliff based on the design from one of the young architects from Khabarovsk, Petr Starikov. It was intended for the military department as a building for the rescue station and for monitoring the river. Despite wartime, Cliff was built in the neoclassical style, with the clear expectation that the building would be a major landmark for the city, become a center of attraction due to it’s central location in the park and special care was taken to fit the building into the surrounding landscape.

In the post-war years the park around became a favourite place for Khabarovsk residents to walk and the Khabarovsk Cliff building with it’s great views fit perfectly into the new peaceful life. In the 1950s, it housed a water rescue society, then the DOSAAF maritime school, where children were taught modeling, rowing theory and being on the water. Subsequently, the school moved to another premises and the Cliff was used as a park structure. In 1957 for the fortieth anniversary of the October Revolution, a memorial plaque appeared on Utes stating that “At this place on September 5, 1918, 16 Austro-Hungarian musicians who sympathised with Soviet Power were brutally tortured by the White Army”. This refers to a very interesting story, surrounded by many legends. There are several versions of events, leading to execution, and it’s perhaps worth writing about separately and in more detail – I will try to collect scattered information together in the near future.

In the early 60s, construction began on the current Admiral Nevelsky embankment, stretching along the Amur. The bend of the embankment at the foot of the Cliff was built in the 1970s. Probably, at the same time, the interior of the building was remodelled, additional volume was added to create an entrance and a staircase leading to the embankment was built. After this, in the 80s-90s, the Cliff building was used as a cafe. In the XXI century, the building had undergone resoration works twice, and after restoration in 2013 it was given to the nearby Khabarovsk Regional Museum. It is included in the list of cultural monuments of regional importance.

Numerous photographs of Utes were used as references: old and modern photos, some were taken by myself during my last visit, vintage postcards, panoramas from Yandex maps, etc. Street tiles, parapets, embankment rails and lanterns are copied from photographs and are true to reality. This project was a labour of love for me.

В Zip-архиве есть PDO file (для Pepakura Viewer) с 3D моделью, который показывает расположение всех деталей и их соединение, дополнительно, основные элементы были подписаны в PDF. Также я стандартно рекомендую подкрасить места стыков, где проглядывает белизна бумаги, в цвет окружающих деталей, это моментально придаст модели более аккуратный вид и даже может скрыть мелкие недостатки сборки.

  1. Распечатайте выкройку на бумаге A4 paper (10 страниц).
  2. Наметьте сгибы с помощью какого-нибудь инструмента.
  3. Вырезайте и держите детали сгруппированными, некоторые детали очень маленькие и их лучше вырезать непосредственно перед приклеиванием.
  4. Основа (Base) и Утес (Cliff) имеет системы подпорок изнутри, чтобы избежать проседания.
  5. Я рекомендую собирать снизувверх:
    1. Собрать Основe (Base).
    2. Собрать 3 части Утеса (Cliff), склеить между собой и потом приклеить к Основе (Base).
    3. После этого приступаем к работе над собственно зданием: собираем Видовую платформу (Viewing platform) + Основной вход (Main entrance) + Флигель (Outbuilding) склеиваем их между собой и потом приклеиваем к вершине Утеса (Cliff). Проверьте расположение окон по PDO файлу и моим фото.
    4. Собираем 2 куба Второго этажа (2nd Floor) и приклеиваем к имеющейся основе здания.
    5. Собираем все Колонны (Columns), Парапеты (Parapets) и 2 пары фальш-колонн, для оформления входов, приклеиваем к основному зданию.
      На полу есть легкие индикатору, куда их приклеивать, но лучше сверяться с PDO файлом.
    6. Собираем 2 сета Rooftops (Крыши) и приклеиваем их поверх 2этажа и коллонады.
    7. Собираем Башню (Tower) и приклеиваем ее к зданию. Убедитесь что место под балкон смотрит вперед (в сторону Видовой платформы).
    8. Собираем Парапеты (Parapets) для вершины Башни и приклеиваем их в обозначенных местах.
    9. Собираем все Балконы (Balconies) для здания и приклеиваем их.
    10. Собираем Ступеньки (Steps) для всех входов и приклеиваем их к зданию и Утесу.
    11. Вырезаем и склеиваем все Деревья (Trees), лучше всего держать их в пронумерованном порядке – в предлагающемся варианте расположения их на склонах Утеса они обозначены номерами на схеме.
  6. Все готово!

Zip archive includes PDO file (for Pepakura Viewer) with 3D model and info on where each piece goes and where they are connected, but I’ve also labelled all parts in the PDF. For more polished look colour white paper showing with similar colours.

  1. Print out PDF file on A4 paper (10 pages).
  2. Score all tabs before cutting with a pointed but blunt instrument.
  3. Cut parts in groups (by labels) and keep them separate. Some parts are very small, so cut them when you’re ready to glue them in or keep them secure until then.
  4. Base and Cliff parts have internal support system, to keep figure from sagging and maintain folds.
  5. I suggest building it from the bottom up:
    1. Build Base.
    2. Build 3 parts of the Cliff structure, glue them to each other and the base.
    3. Start working on the actual building: assemble Viewing platform + Main entrance + Outbuilding and glue them to the Cliff top. Make sure windows are facing in the right directions – check PDO file and my photos.
    4. Assemble 2nd Floor cubes and glue them in atop existing building parts.
    5. Assemble all Columns, Parapets and 2 sets of faux-columns framing the exits, glue them to building.
      On the viewing platforms floors there are faint indications where to place them, but consult PDO file in case of doubt.
    6. Assemble 2 sets of Rooftops and glue them over Columns and 2nd Floor.
    7. Assemble Tower and glue it in. Make sure the place for the balcony is facing forward.
    8. Assemble Parapets for the Tower top and attach.
    9. Assemble Balconies for the Tower and Main building, glue in.
    10. Assemble Steps for all entrances, glue them in.
    11. Cut and pre-assemble Trees, keep them in numbered order and consult picture for the suggested placement on the Cliff slopes.
  6. All done!
