AO3 Edition of my book cover templates for “Generate Cover” plugin for Calibre.
Details and downloads below.
Calibre book covers [AO3 Edition] details:
Templates are to be used with “Generate Cover” plugin for Calibre, created by Grant Drake.
Cover dimensions are: 750px x 1100px
4 versions are available: covers with colored or black logo, both in PNG & in SVG format.
Design was inspired by the iconic PENGUIN BOOKS paperbacks.
To duplicate the look fully, you need Gill Sans MT font, but other sans-serif fonts can be used too (some font size adjustments might be needed).
Upon import, A03 red version will be added automatically, but another 36 colour variations are also included to offer some variety.
This can be used however you like – Penguin Books used colours to denote Genres, you can do this for genres, rating, fandom, pairings or just use any colours you like.
Info, colours and Installation instructions are the same, and can be read HERE: Calibre | Book cover templates (Penguin)

Ideas:
- You can import settings several times and adjust fonts for Titles of various lengths or in different scripts.
- Custom text (can be enabled/disabled in [Contents] tab) – can be used to indicate fandoms or other info.
- You can make custom cover images with logos/pictures and add them in “Image list” in the [Settings] tab and even save frequently used combinations as new setting.

These templates are just what I wanted, and it’s really satisfying to see my saved fics all match! Thanks for sharing this!
I’m so happy people got some use of it too!
This is a really great template, thanks!
Do you know by chance a way to customize the color of the bottom text? Specifically the custom text? When I send it to my B/W Kindle device, the bottom text is not visible because it’s in color black. I have to move the custom text field up in the Contents tab to make it visible.
Hi!,
As of now Generate Cover doesn’t allow for change of text colour sadly, I plan to write to author with a feature suggestion for it…
So the only way to make custom text show up is to used a background with enough contrast to set-off black text, something lighter OR as you did – move it higher up.
hi, I love this!! I see in the example images, you have the Star Wars logo where the custom text goes. how did you do that? can you import an image to use as ‘custom text’? thanks!
Hi, it’s not an image logo, it’s a customized text, using Star Wars font.
Thanks for making these! How did you get the custom text to be on two separate lines? It’s only letting me enter text on one line.
I think I’ve just added ❮br❯ whenever I needed breaks in Custom Text, but had to adjust spacing between text afterwards.
