Papercraft figure of Jonathan Ferguson, Keeper of Firearms and Artillery, came about after I’ve spent a month watching Royal Armouries’ “What’s this Weapon?” series of videos, while doing other crafts. I think, seeing the animated pixel character is what prompted me – “Oh, I can do one too. Less pixel, more kawaii though…” In Russian there’s a saying that “kindness should have big fists”, so it makes total sense that “cute and kawaii” should come with an emotional support STG.

Papertoy of Jonathan Ferguson, Keeper of Firearms and Artillery
It’s been awhile since I’ve done templates for papertoys or papercraft, I completely forgot, that after spending all this time on figure itself, I’m also usually also making a PREVIEW picture with some fancy and completely unneeded background artwork.
Why am I doing this to myself?
I could have gone a simpler route too, and do just a museum entrance or collection stacks, but I’ve set my mind on a cityscape scene and as a result spent an extra day making it, recreating museum building, bridge and skyline. See bigger picture above for all the details, as I’m quite proud of the result.
References for Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds and it’s surroundings were taken from Google Maps. I took some artistic liberties, but visitors will surely recognise some of the details.
As for the figure – it’s once again a Paperized papertoy, made using my heavily-modified template and I’ve provided a ton of customization options: 2 variants of jackets, 6 options for shirts or t-shirts (all worn in the series at some point), several versions of hands (to complement the chosen outfit).
My favourite look from early on is included too (creator’s privilege): grey jacket + red shirt + red pin + blue gloves + blue pen, colour and accessories game is strong with that one.
Martini-Henry T-shirt is from C&Rsenal, Spitfire t-shirt – Imperial War Museum, default shirt with blueprints – by Retro Rifle (print was lifted from an e-bay listing photo), John Wick t-shirt I’ve found via reverse image search and Deadpool shirt is my imitation, using Deadpool logo, as I haven’t been able to find an exact match.
No copyright infringement was intended, bla bla bla.
Of course, plenty of weapons are provided.
We could probably play “What is this Weapon” with options here too, just to test the knowledge of those who found this page and figure. Let’s just say, that STG is there and my biggest regret is that I couldn’t find a decent picture of some whacky pistol with bayonet (I need views from both sides), as we can all agree, those are pretty cool.
